My wife, Lynne Nemeth, and I moved to Flagstaff in October 2006 to be near children and the first grandchild (and now four grandchildren). I am originally from a town in Illinois roughly the size of Flagstaff.  Prior to moving to Flagstaff I lived in Maryland for 35 years.

page_morrison_nemethI have spent most of my 40 plus-year professional career in the public policy arena in the areas of health care (with an emphasis on behavioral health and managed care), workforce development and workers compensation.  Clients in the public policy arena have included, among others:

  • Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
  • Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
  • Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
  • Health Resources and Services Administration
  • National Institute of Mental Health
  • The States of California, Connecticut, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia

My background also includes providing strategic planning and government relations for a variety of small, medium, and large firms, including women-owned and minority-owned firms, and in academia.

I have been on 35 local, state and national governing or advisory boards, in both professional and volunteer capacities including:

  • Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra
  • Planned Parenthood of Arizona
  • National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems
  • National Association for Children’s Behavioral Health

  • AIDS Alliance of Howard County (Maryland)

I am finishing my sixth year as President of the Board of Trustees of Heichal Baoranim (Temple in the Pines), Flagstaff’s egalitarian Jewish congregation.

In addition to teaching in the First Year Seminar program at Northern Arizona University, I was a Career and Academic Advisor at the Gateway Student Success Center at NAU for two years.

I have an A.A from Elgin Community College and a B.S. in Psychology and Mathematics and an M.S. in Community Mental Health from Northern Illinois University. I have done additional graduate work in Mathematical Economics, Biostatistics, and Epidemiology.

I am a veteran, serving in the United States Navy.  I was honorably discharged on completion of my term of service.

Lynne is Executive Director of the Flagstaff Arboretum.
